Shweta Ghosh

Shweta Ghosh is a documentary filmmaker and researcher. A silver medalist from the School of Media and Cultural Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (SMCS, TISS), Mumbai, she has explored her interest in food, travel, music and disability through various research and film projects.

Shweta’s tryst with independent documentary started with Accsex, a film exploring notions of beauty, body, sexuality and disability, funded by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust and Doordarshan. The film has travelled to film festivals across India and abroad and recently won Special Mention at the 61st Indian National Film Awards (2014).

Her research paper on food and television culture was published in a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary food journal in 2012. Thereon, she nurtured her interest in food related research and received the Early Career Film Fellowship at the SMCS, TISS in 2014 for a film that explores cuisine and culture in the coastal town of Vengurla, Maharashtra, through food memories within her maternal family.
