DocWok film wins at DOK Leipzig

One of the six DocWok projects, titled 'Distance', directed by Yashaswini Raghunandan and Ekta Mittal, won the Golden Dove for the category of Documentary Films and Videos/Short Metrage (up to 45 min) at the recently concluded DOK Leipzig film festival 2013. The awards were announced on November 2, 2013.
"A tribute to the mythic power of imagination to deal with longing and loss in the boomtown of Bangalore, India. The directors' unconventional approach intermingles poetic atmospherics and direct interviews with sparkling sound design and striking visuals," explains the citation.
'Distance', a film that delves into the inner worlds of migrant construction workers through stories of love and longing, is shot by Paromita Dhar and Amith Surendran, edited by Abhro Banerjee, with Abhro Banerjee and Christopher Burchell doing the sound work and Rahul Giri its music.
